That's So Gay

This past Monday night, I saw Wanda Sykes commercial “That’s So Gay.” The basic message was stop the use of saying “that’s so gay” when expressing when something is stupid. When I looked it up on YouTube, it is over 2 years old although it was the first time I saw it. I immediately thought that she doesn’t understand what someone means by saying “that’s so gay,” so I will expand on it here. Many people see themselves as being one thing and refuse to see themselves as others see them. Gay is a term used to describe women and men who are attracted to their same sex for purposes of an intimate relationship. The question occurs when we try to distinguish a gay person from a straight person. Women who are gay are also called lesbians and have adopted the term openly. Lesbians are sexy to most straight men as they have fantasies of having sex with two women at one time. They also frustrate straight men as lesbians are representative of all women and many are very attractive. Lesbians also represent a threat to straight men’s relationship if there is a fear that their female partner could be stolen from them by a lesbian. There are many lesbians that are not so attractive to straight men and they would be labeled as a “butch.” They do appear slightly differently than most women by the fashion they dress, but not much else. So for the most part, gay women do not appear out of the norm although they make many straight women feel uncomfortable being around them. Gay men are typically referred to as fags or fagots and do not adopt the term openly. Most gay men openly announce their “gay-ness” through the way they dress, most mostly by the way they talk and their gestures. There is nothing more annoying to straight men and women than seeing a gay man talk as they have to talk with their hand pointed down from their limp wristed gesture. It is such a loud announcement is appears that if they don’t speak that way with the gestures that their openly gay card will be revoked. When someone says, “That’s so gay,” they are mainly referring to those limp wristed gay men that look like complete idiot by the way they talk and their actions. Nobody was born talking and acting like that. It was a choice that certain individuals take. “That’s so gay” also refers to those stuck up lesbians that are offensive to straight men and women. More over, one should not refrain from using the phrase “That’s so gay!” It may be used to refer to something that is stupid and doesn’t make sense, and we can add to the end, to a straight individual.
